James Kochalka Will Teach You To Stomp Goombas

James Kochalka is an independent cartoonist known for awesomely adorable strips such as Johnny Boo!, Monkey Vs. Robot, and the autobiographical American Elf series. Mario Mario is a plumber from Brooklyn with two first names that was sucked into a fantasy world where chickens wore turtle shells and mushrooms made you a colossal, ass-kicking giant. Kochalka seems to be happy being a cartoonist, and Mario seems happy being a hero to tiny mushroom people.

But what if their situations were reversed? What if Kochalka was pulled down that drain and into the Mushroom Kingdom? This is the burning question Kochalka himself must have been tormented with for years, until he finally decided to find out. Head to Offworld to play American Elf Bros., a hack he created to put his elfish alter-ego into the land of the Koopa.

Now I’m waiting for Mario’s exclusive sketchbook, and upcoming graphic novel. Maybe he’ll have a few copies in his overalls to show off at San Diego Comic Con in July?
