Ho, Ho, Hogan’s Alley!

 
Christmas day is almost upon us, so I wanted to bring you all some wonderful holiday roffles.  What I found in my internet browsings is something that I consider pure genius.  Now, I am not a huge fan of remixes, mash-ups or any of that loop sampling shit you kids are into today, but when someone is able to take a preexisting piece of work and manipulate it in such away that it becomes a whole new entity, I’m all for.

Such is the way of 8-bit Jesus.  On this album, Doctor Octoroc (not to be confused with Kool Keith’s alter-ego, Dr. Octogon.  This one is more Hyrulian in nature) has taken various sound effects and music from classic 8-bit games and reworked them into classic holiday carols.  The names alone crack me up, such Carol of the Belmonts, Icarus! The Angels Sing!, Have Yourself a Final Little Fantasy, and Bubbles We Have Heard on Bobble. If you click on the link above you can download all 18 tracks for free. But, if you are truly feeling the holiday spirit, you can buy a physical version of the album for $15. Why would you want to do that? Well it seems Dr. Octoroc’s little 6-month-old Corgi, Ein, is having a bout with some stones in his bladder which is going to require a costly operation.
