Don’t Throw Out Your Console Anytime Soon: Current Gen To Last For A While
Posted by Matt Little Jul, 01, 2009 @ 9:59 amImage via Joystiq Being an early adopter of tech - especially game consoles - can be SERIOUSLY cost prohibitive. It’s equally frustrating to finally be able to afford a console, only to have a new generation announced soon after, effectively rendering your purchase moot. Lord knows that happened to me before, which made me shy away from several different systems (sorry, SEGA). However, according to a rather exhaustive report on the industry by Wedbush Morgan (via Joystiq), we won’t be seeing that type of issue anytime soon. Why? Because this is going to be the last. Pointing to the small adoption rates for HD displays, Pachter says that unless consumers start coming out in droves to pick up HD displays, these consumers aren’t going to feel compelled to pick up a HD-compatible console (or upgrade from their Wii). This, he feels, adds longevity to the current cycle, stating that current-generation console sales will go long tail, and says that the...

PS3 Losing Weight Sooner Than We Thought?
Posted by Matt Little Jul, 01, 2009 @ 8:52 amWe may be getting a new iteration of the PS3 even sooner than we thought - bigger hard drive, thinner build, new PS2 emulator (I would only hope)? In fact, they’re already being worked on at the plant! Sure we hear rumors all the time, but according to Joystiq: The news has a ring of truth to it, given that [Foxconn and Pegatron] have manufactured the original PS3. The timing also makes sense, as Japan actually buys most of its game consoles during the summer vacation period (as opposed to the winter holidays in the west). Looks like your sister isn’t the only person trying to drop the L-beez for bikini season. Master Chief Would Love To Sign Your Yearbook
Posted by Matt Little Jun, 29, 2009 @ 7:55 amEveryone has an origin story, even the greatest of us didn’t come out of the womb fully-formed. There were diapers, history lessons, puberty, and of course, senior yearbook photos. Now, thanks to Pwn or Die! (via Joystiq), we now know what Master Chief was like before he became a Master, and was just Chief, that guy who had a locker down the hall from you. The Pwn guys get the tone of shitty senior pictures spot-on, though I would have loved to see a few more classic tropes, like the baseball bat pose (for baseball players), the pose with the family pet (for pet lovers), or the pose where you’re draped in the American flag (for the one girl I went to high school with that actually used that as her senior yearbook photo). Click over for more visual reminders that you should have a bitchin’ summer. RMA. PSPgo Is Expensive Because Rich White Guys Want It To Be
Posted by Matt Little Jun, 26, 2009 @ 9:48 amFrom an interview with MCV, quoth Andrew House, head of SCEE: When you introduce a new piece of hardware you have the opportunity to say there is a certain premium that is associated with it, and we took that into account. Oh cool. Next up, look for the exclusive velvet rope add-on that Sony will be releasing next year! Expect to find your PSPgo one day being guarded by a large man in a black t-shirt with a headset, asking who you know to be able to play your system. NEXT, be sure to stick around as Sony REALLY thank you for being an early adopter of their revamped system, by punching you straight in your nutsnax. If you’re a female, they’ll get them for you, and then hit you there! Make sure that when you’re done playing, you place your PSPgo back in its velvet tuxedo pouch, inside its gold-flocked safe, in its Sony-exclusive hyperbaric chamber. Seriously, Sony, you can bite my shiny metal ass. SHARETHIS.addEntry({ title: "PSPgo Is Expensive Because Rich White...

Hey, Look At This Thing: Lego Arcade
Posted by Matt Little Jul, 01, 2009 @ 8:24 amI will never stop being amazed at how nostalgia and creativity can intersect, and how YouTube is the destination to show these off. Case in point, via the ever-wonderful RetroThing: Lego Arcade! No, you're not going to see Lego Scorpion Lego burn Lego Raiden's Lego body into Lego ashes, but you will see some fantastic recreations of early 80s classics, like Pac Man, Frogger, and Space Invaders. This may be more fun to watch than Lego Indiana Jones:

Oh God, We Get It Megan Fox - You’re A Geek’s Fantasy Come To Life
Posted by Matt Little Jun, 26, 2009 @ 8:52 am“The glasses prove I know smart stuff.” UGH. Okay, Megan Fox, we all know by now: you’re not a girly girl even though you’re super hot, you love being bad even though you’re super hot, and you love dork stuff even though you’re super hot. Via WiiBlog, covering this interview with WhatTheyPlay: Megan Fox: My first gaming console was the Super Nintendo when I was about nine, and my first game was Aladdin. I remember playing that as a wee child. I’ve always really loved video games. Some of them, unfortunately, I’m not very good at playing, but some of them I’m kind of a badass at. Around the premiere of her next film, expect footage of her old LARP days to surface. Even though she’s hot.
